Here Patrick Pollen interprets Carl Jung’s concept of the four basic psychological functions, the way we apprehend the world and adjust to it: thinking, feeling, sensation and intuition.
The two functions in each pair or axis are mutually exclusive, ie, thinking and feeling cannot operate simultaneously. We do not develop all functions equally, neither do we operate on just one function, but ther eis usually a predominant function and on its oppsite axis will be our inferior function. This is the function of be cultivated: eg a thinking type would do well to hearken to their heart.
